African baskets have a long history and we at Zanzibar are helping to preserve this nearly lost art by working with a variety of cooperatives in Africa that make baskets. Each African basket is made by hand, using sustainably harvested materials. The weavers are paid living wages and typically receive a significant portion of the retail price of the finished African basket.
