Yes. These REALLY are cut from Human skulls, used in Tantric or Chod rituals for Tibetan Buddhists. We only encourage their purchase for practicing Buddhists and for Chod meditation(s).
NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO GET!!!
Human bone mala from Tibet. 108 beads, natural or antiqued. These are contemporary (less than 20 years old. The "antique" color is actually created using teas. (choose from drop down menu). Each one has 108 beads, supposedly from 108 different skulls (I'm not convinced of this, however that is what I am told by the monks).
The closeup photos shows a piece of broken human skull with several of the "beads" cut out. These are NOT cut out using any type of power tools - but are carefully hand cut out using a sharp knife... the pieces of bone are cut out by the knife cutting at an angle into the skull - and it is cut equally from each side until it is popped out.
There are no laws which prohibit selling human remains in the U.S. (that we are aware of - please check your local ordinances/laws PRIOR to ordering) unless the remains are of a Native American (Indian) or First Nation (Canadian Indian) or AmerIndian (Central or South American).
There are some restrictions also in regards to remains from Cambodia,(due to the killing fields), Thailand and India, however we source our human remain items (Malas, Kapalas (Skull caps), human skulls, leg bone trumpets (for Chod/Chud practice) and other items legally from Tibet.
The "new" or contemporary items are created by a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery that performs sky burials and all proper protocols, rights and prayers are performed. We wish to keep the name of this Monastery secret, as there are restrictions by the Chinese government on practicing Buddhism and certain rites.
We assure our clients that these items are authentic and are NOT byproducts of unsavory practices (grave robbing, political prisoners, etc). They are intended for ritual practice only and we will not knowingly sell them for curiosity sake or to collectors.
Some are contemporary, some are vintage or antique (traditionally vintage and antique ones, when available, are MORE expensive. Inquire if interested and we'll tell you what we have in stock).
We usually have a variety of ritual and chod meditation items in stock - if you don't see it on our website, email or call us... as we might have it or be able to (if legal) source it for you!
Chod meditation in Tibetan Buddhist practice is a powerful method of taming one's mind. It involves visualizations of oneself being dismembered and devoured by demonic forces as an offering to destroy one's delusions.
