Baskets from UgandaThese dish-style baskets come from Rabona, Uganda, near the district of Kasese. Baskets were traditionally made by women in the village for everyday use, and continue to be made and used today. Each basket is woven by hand and constructed from millet stalk wound with local grasses. The dyes are prepared from natural resouces found in the area, and one basket may take up to three weeks to create from start to finish. There are many patterns used, and each basket is distinctly different. They are known for their quality and craftsmanship. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these baskets benefit the non-profit group www.thevillagefoundation.org Visit their website to view and purchase these fantastic baskets! Thevillagefoundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving indigenous music and art through recording, cataloging, educating and funding. Your tax-deductible donation or gift in-kind helps us to continue our work. Thank you for your support
